I want you on the bus with me! What does this mean? Well, basically it means that together we can get every child in the English speaking world reading and writing. At the moment about 50% of our kids are being left behind when it comes to be taught to read and write and this is simply not good enough. What does this have to do with buses? Let me tell you!

We have known for quite a while now how to get every child reading. The answer is focusing on all 6 areas of reading instruction: oral language, phonological & phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. The answer is systematic, explicit teaching. My work in this site is aimed at helping teachers and parents to understand what it looks like to teach in a way that reaches every child. If you are looking for touchy feely, feel good posts about how to lead children to create their own learning, this is not the place for you. If you are hoping to learn more about how to actively engage children in explicit learning experiences that result in strong growth and achievement, then you are absolutely in the right place!

So, back to the bus. We need EVERY single person to come along on the journey. We need to all be hanging out the windows shouting to our friends to stop what they are doing and join us. If the bus is a place you want to be, then keep reading!

I look forward to sharing information and methodology with you through the No-Nonsense Educator Blog, downloadable resources, video clips and webinars.
